For a long time I had interest in owning a money generating website. In 2009 I launched my first website called www.mytenders.co.za. For this site I had to appoint a web developer. Putting this site together was very frustrating. I had high expectations and may be unreasonable demands. By the time the site was live the relationship I had with the developer was in tatters. My advice when you decide to appoint a web developer, have a clear and precise contract and reasonable time frames, do not leave things to imagination.
Anyway the site was launched and I advertised on Google Adwords. I was here where I realized just how powerful Google advertising is if you have a unique product. The initial success, number of new members that joined and paid premium subscriptions was encouraging. But the site had some underlying problems which I do not want to get into. What is site all about? Basically mytenders.co.za allows buyers to invite suppliers to submit quotation online, buyers can appoint suppliers online and even generate purchase orders for suppliers.
During my first site development I developed interest in knowing more about website design and development. I started experimenting with templates. Not before long I could download a template, make changes, and launch the site online using Filezilla. My very first site I launched was www.paidforemails.co.za/index.php(old design). This included incorporating HTML and PHP. All the stuff I tried here was from things I learned from Google search.
Slowly I learnt about blogs and so I created my first blog called paidforemails.blogspot.com.My background being an accounting have found it easier to work on e-commerce websites like Opencart, osCommerce, Zen-Carts.
